The slate route

This circuit offers a full-day walk with plenty of surprises along the way. You will pass the Musée de l’Ardoise (Slate Museum) then explore a former slate quarry turned park with its astonishing blue lakes.

Touristic places
- The Parc des Ardoisières in Trélazé with its small hills, old lands and headframes, has been restructured from an old slate quarry.
- The Musée de l’ardoise (slate museum) permits discovering the extraction methods evolution and slate cracking demonstration.
- The Parc de Pignerolle in Saint-Barthélemy-d’Anjou is a good example of the French art of living. The landscape atmosphere of the château, built in 1776 on 80 ha, has been realised in accordance with the elegance and architectural balance of the château.
