La Daguenière market town was created late: in fact, it was developed thanks to the construction of the dyke, finished in the end of Middle Ages In 1518, Nicolas Houssemaine and his wife Raoulline Lelièvre created a chapel on this dyke, belonged to the Saint-Jean-des-Mauvrets' parish, on the South shore.
